  8. Answer: an upstart from Miami whose album To the Extreme has
  9. sold an astonishing 2.5 million copies in seven weeks. A hit
  10. in black-dominated rap, Vanilla Ice insists on keeping his real
  11. moniker to himself. Says he: "I'm from the street -- that's why
  12. I don't give out my name." Four years ago, he was part of a
  13. violent neighborhood gang. After a stabbing that nearly cost
  14. him his life, he changed his ways. "I don't sound like anybody
  15. else," he says. "I have my own style, called `above ground.'
  16. There's no cursing, but I get my point across."
